How long did it take your LO to grow out of Dairy Sensitivity?

How long did it take your LO to grow out of Dairy Sensitivity? (for mobiles)

My LO is 6 months and has been sensitive to dairy since about 6 weeks. She was really gassy, wouldn't sleep well, and had mucus poops. Luckily she seems fine with soy. She was so sensitive with the dairy that she would react even when I ate beef. Now, I notice that she can tolerate beef fine but I am still apprehensive about the dairy. So, I was wondering how long it took other ppl's little ones to grow out of this?

  • lo was mspi and we started to challenge her system through my milk at 8 months then at 9 months we went to italy and I had lots of dairy and she did ok ( ezcema and gassy but thats it) Now at 10 months I gave her a tiny bit of goats milk yogurt and she seemed ok but I am sooooo nervous to give her any I dont know when I will really try it. I would personally wait until your lo is a bit older, her gut is still closing and at 6 months she will probably be starting solids so I would give her a bit to get use to those before intro-ing dairy

  • My dd is 13 months and still can't tolerate dairy. Depends on the child. Many outgrow it by 10-12 months. Most by 2 yrs.

  • I agree it totally depends on the kid.  DD had multiple food protein intolerance and had to be switched to elemental formula at 4 months.  She could not tolerate any food until around 10-11 months.  She is doing great now with slow introduction of the safest foods, but her GI told me to wait until 18 months before introducing any dairy at all.

  • DS is a year old. We challenged him with dairy a couple weeks ago. He failed miserably. We will be challenging him with soy in a couple weeks. Fingers crossed.

DD is going to be 4 in August. At 3 she was still allergic to dairy based on her blood work so we never did a food challenge. I'm hoping at her testing coming up she has finally outgrown it, but there is no guarantee she will ever outgrow it. Only 86% do.

I actually just re-read your post. My daughter has a dairy allergy, not sensitivity.

  • my 19 month old still is very sensitive to dairy.

My 3 y/o is allergic to dairy (and others) but my 19 month old has always been intolerant.  No signs of slowing down.  As soon as he has anything dairy it runs right through.
