My name is Sarah and dh name is Ronald goes by Ronnie... Thought it was a cute combo of our names ... This is number 5 we have Caiden Bruce (son) Pierce Benedict (son) Emerson cross (son) Reid Amy Christine (daughter) Sonnie Elizabeth for this one?
I went to high school with a Sunny (girl) and didn't think it was all that unusual. There also used to be a female news reporter in my city named Sonni.
I can't stand the name Veronica... I don't know why... Possible because my mil was pushing it for my daughter... I just think its cute I can vary the spelling Sonni ... I would like to use the o instead of u but not totally set on the name
I fail to see the appeal of -son in a girl's name.
Sunny as a stand alone name, or as a NN for Sunetra, is fine, but then you no longer have a tie into it being a smoosh of your names. I'd go back to the drawing board.
Also having Emerson and Sonnie would be confusing. Why not use Sonnie as a NN for your son Emerson?
Both Sonny and Sunny are terrible to me. I'm a fan of 2 of your names, Emerson & Reid, although my DS is Reid and if this baby is a girl it might be Emerson. Anyway, I'd start over. Sonny is my grandfather's name, so it's very manly to me.
Ditto others on Sunny. If I head someone call out "Sunny!" (or "Sonny") I'd probably assume it was Sunny anyway, partly because I'd think someone woudl be insane to name a female child Sonny and partly because I don't think the name "Sonny" used outside of grandpas yelling at kids to get off their lawn ("Sonny boy, get off my lawn!) in fifty years.
I personally would probably go for a fairly unisex name since Reid and Emerson are both very unisex, and having a girl named Reid and a girl named, say, Victoria (or even Sunny) would be very confusing - people would by default assume that you had four boys and a girl. If you had a Reid (which I actually would have never considered unisex, but there you go!), an Emerson, and a, say, Finley/Avery/Casey/Quinn, etc., people would be more inclined to consider the possibility that one or more of the children were female.
I wouldn't use that as an end all/be all rule, since the kids won't be lumped together their entire lives, but it could certainly make life a bit easier for the next 18 years.
We liked Quinn and made the mistake of telling people and his sister used it but yes we are ok w going "unisex " I like sawyer dh does as well
Anyone who meets your DD without knowing both her parents' names - which is going to be most people she meets for most of her life, especially as an adult - is not going to know that her name is a smoosh of her parents' names, they will just wonder why the heck her parents gave her a name with SON right there at the beginning for anyone who knows a hundred words of English to have their minds blown by its utter contrariness. It doesn't stand on its own. No one should have a name that's so counterintuitive that she'll have to explain it every time she gives it out; it's like being shackled to your parents for life. The reality is that, while smoosh names are a cute idea, most smooshes of two names sound pretty dopey, and in certain cases are just bad. Sonny on a girl is bad. It would be less bad for a son, and just peachy as a nickname for a boy.

I think because Ron and son don't sound the same, that on top of not being a very good girl name, it really wouldn't be achieving what you are trying to do.
I just read that you are considering Sawyer for a girl because your name is Sarah and you would like your daughter's name to honor you by starting with the letter "S"
Sawyer sounds very unfeminine to me, how about: Samantha Sophia Shauna Sydney Savannah Sylvia Scarlett
There are a lot of beautiful girl names that start with "S."
I like Sunny Elizabeth fine. I am one who is actually fine with unisex names. My oldest daughter is Rory Nicole, but I do not like Sonnie for a girl. Please use the feminine version.

I don't mind Sunny but I don't know about Sunny, Sonny, or Sonni as a first name for a girl. Do you like Summer? I know the meaning behind it is important to you, but maybe recognizing a personal idol or someone you look up to might be a better option? PP also suggested Sonya?

This. I just can't get behind Sunny/Sonny/Sonni as a stand alone name either. It reminds me of Sonny and Cher. Sonia/Sonya/Sonja with a nn of Sunny would be fine, but I don't like it as a stand alone.
I do like Sawyer for a girl. And I LOVE some of the other 's' names suggested. Shauna and Scarlett are my favorites that I've seen
I guess I'm the minority here because I really don't like Sunny. Sonny seems too masculine. I think Sonnie is fine though NMS. I went to school with a girl named Sonne.
Re: Sonnie? Sonny? For a girl?
I like pp suggestion of Veronica to honor you dh.
