Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Teething suggestions?

DD is 14 weeks old, and starting the teething thing.  Before this she was a really good baby.  Now she's a complete nightmare.  She eats for 5-10 minutes at a time and then unlatches forcefully.  I swear one of these days she's going to rip the nipple right off.  We've given her cold and room temp teething toys, and she is very aggressive in biting on them.  When it comes time for naps or bedtime we fight to get her to sleep.  She acts like she is very uncomfortable and fussy when she is awake.  I just want my happy baby back.  What else can we do for her?

Re: Teething suggestions?

  • I rub baby orajel on the gums and when he is real bad I give Tylenol. That's a pretty rare occasion but seems to help.

  • Try using an amber necklace or bracelet.  I had never heard of it before until I read about them somewhere so I did a bit more research.  Also asked one of the other moms at DS's daycare and said she at first didn't think it worked but noticed it did help after going one day without using it so now she uses it all the time when he's teething.  Just make sure if you try one it's real amber and not a knock off.

  • Teething tablets are wonderful! And we used Tylenol the day that her tooth was actually breaking through since she was so miserable.

I never knew about this either, but we got one and it seems to work really good. We were having to use orajel and tylenol all the time but have only had to use it once in the past week!!!
