Furbabies with their babies...

I have a boxer and a doxie who play all.day.long, and DS watches them. It's like he's thinking 'man I can't wait till I can play, too'. My boxer absolutely adores him. She is so protective of him and when he cries she runs to find me to let me know. The doxie couldn't care less about him lol. Tonight we were rocking and the boxer climbs up on the arm of the chair and DS leaned into her and like squeezed her face and opened his mouth to give her some kisses (he started the open mouth sugars a few weeks ago). He was just cracking up while she was licking on him. Any other 'bad' moms out there let your babies get licked on already? My mom fusses me, but it's inevitable and I'm afraid it will only continue lol! And totally off topic: have y'all see this Sharknado movie? It's awful. It's like a bad car wreck: just horrible but you can't look away. And they are making a sequel. WTF?!

  • I also have a boxer and another small mixed breed dog. My little dog could care less for my little man but my Boxer is the best fur sister I could have asked for for him. She gives him little kisses all the time and it doesn't bother me at all. What I love the most is that even though she's a very large dog, she is incredibly gentle with him!

  • Oh I know. Ours loved to play rough with DH, but she knows she needs to be gentle with DS. Its so sweet, and impressive :)

I gave up on stopping kisses but we make them avoid the face -they can't even kiss our faces.

We also have a boxer and a doxie. The boxer follows LO everywhere and runs when she cries. When she gets stuck on her tummy and gives her upset scream he always looks like he wants to nudge her back over.

The doxie isn't overly interested except for the occasional kiss. I think he's still angry he is no longer the center of the universe. ;)

  • I have a pitbull, she doesn't really know what to do around him. She would just rather jump on our laps and lick us to death instead of trying to figure out what our son is. She does smell his hand and licks his hands a little, I wipe them after she licks them because she is outside a lot and I try to steer her away from face licking any of us. Kinda hard when my husband basically gets his bath from her.

  • We have a lab/pit mix, Rolex, and a boxer/pit mix, Maddie. I knew that Maddie would be great with LO - she loves kids. I wasn't so sure how Rolex would be, because when our friends have been over with their kids he puts up with them but doesn't really show to much interest. He was super protective and extra attached to me during pregnancy though. When we got home from the hospital, they were both instantly in love with our LO. They love going for walks with her and act so proud when we come across other people. :) In the house, they each have an area that they seem to be in charge of. If LO is in her swing or bouncer, Maddie watches over her. If she's in her crib, Rolex is on duty. So cute.

We have a corgi and she's definitely more interested in big people than the baby. But she'll give him a few licks now and then. We urge her not to lick his face but more the top of his head or his feet. It's so cute! :)

We have 2 Labs who consider our LO "their" baby. She is never out of their sight. If someone else is holding her they sit and watch them. Super cute!

My boxer does this too! If I'm holding the baby she will go do her own thing, but if anyone else is holding him, she watches them like a hawk. She loves 'her' baby and I think it's adorable how protective of him she is already.
