This post is extremely belated but as all the BTDT MoMs know, the first few weeks after twins arrive have been such a blur! My world has been turned upside down since July 2, the day I was induced and brought my twin girls Emma and Kate into the world. Emma was 6 lbs 11 oz and Kate was 5 lbs 15 oz. It's no wonder I was so enormous at the end of my pregnancy! But it was all worth it to have such healthy twins.
The short version of their birth story: after 12 hours of labor and 2 hours of pushing, little miss Kate (baby A) did not want to cooperate. She was the smaller of the two and kept shifting while Emma (baby

was on top of her. This led us to somewhat of a quick decision to have a c-section to get both of the girls out safely and without further distress. At my hospital, it's a requirement to deliver in the OR if you're considered a high risk pregnancy so fortunately we were already in there and the operation went swiftly and smoothly. The room went from about 5 people to 15 very quickly but the girls came out healthy and crying at 36 weeks 6 days!
The girls had to spend their first night in the NICU for monitoring but I was able to visit, feed and be with them every 2 hours during the night. The next day they were dismissed and were able to room in with us for the rest of our hospital stay.
Now, the girls are 3 weeks old. Time seems to stand still at certain moments and other days I wonder how how it's gone by so quickly! The girls dropped in weight after they were born and we're still trying to get back to a steady growth. I also had to overcome a somewhat unrelated infection in my legs during my recovery (a very long story that I'll spare the details on for now). We're breast feeding and supplementing for now - trying to work our way to all breast milk if possible.
More updates and photos to come soon! You know, once I have a moment to blink in between the 3 hour feedings and sleepless nights
