I've been lurking on here since the birth of our baby girl...I have posted to the August BMB since my BFP and a bit to July since her birth.
We were team green and still had 6.5 weeks to go when my water broke on July 10. Tessa was born 7 hours later via emergency csection after trying to escape feet first. She was 4lb 4oz and 17 inches at birth. She has thrived in the NICU...now up to 5lb 1.3oz in the last 17 days. She only needed CPAP for her first night and was off her IVs within a few days.
She has done great with her feedings and hasnt needed the NG tube for days now. So yesterday the docs and nurses told us we could be taking her home Monday if she passes her car seat test...
Well went in today to find out that she failed it twice overnight...within the first 15 min each time. I was crushed... cried like a baby in the middle of the NICU. We have a KeyFit 30 and its causing too much restriction of her airway. They set her up for another test this afternoon and we didn't want to hover for the 90 min so left...but they removed the infant padding from the seat and put blanket rolls on either side of her. This was the most that they were going to augment the car seat and that works for me. When we left, she had been on 10 min without too many pulse ox dips.
Anyone else have issues with car seat challenge fails? If so, how much longer did your LO stay in the NICU after? I don't want her home until she's good and ready...bu thought we were SO close at having her home with us.
Thanks all!
Re: our lil lady
Good luck with your next car seat test! I know how disappointing it is when the possibility of going home is hovering in front of you. (((Hugs))))
