2 year old boys and circle time

How does your LO do with circle time? It is very difficult to get ds to sit in the circle and follow instructions for this at his daycare/school. The teacher brought it up to us too so I feel like it's more of a problem for him than others there. He just plays on his own instead. He does well with the group for almost all other activities, but not circle time. If you have a 2-3 yr old, especially a boy, how do they do for circle time?

Yes, and he does great when they read books, but for the songs and other things, he never wants to be there.

This is a new center for him. Prior to this he was in a home daycare with very little structure, so yes, very different and perhaps even needs to 'unlearn' some things.

He just started sitting for circle time at gymnastics and some of the time at library story time this month.

Circle time at gymnastics consists of songs, stretches, and stickers at the end. It's short and keeps his interest really well. Circle time at the library consists of reading (3 - 4 short stories), songs, and musical instruments (bells and drums). He sits for the music and singing but only for the first page or two of a story.

LO is 3 and now sits well for circle time, took awhile. When he was 2, he would sit for a few minutes and then get up and wonder off and do something else. It took a long time and a lot of re-direction from his teachers. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I don't think it is too unusual for kids to have a short attention span for circle time. Heck, even my first graders get antsy after awhile
