How long did it take your kid to get used to a toddler bed? John started climbing out of his crib a few days ago, so we took the front off last night and it was horrible. It took 3 hours until he went to sleep, but when he woke up this morning I asked him where he slept and he told me the floor. He seems to find the most annoying things to do while he's in there, too, like throwing a ball repeatedly against our shared wall. We've thought about taking everything out, but he seriously has a ton of stuff, I don't even know where we would put it. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Well, we switched Jonny over pretty young (19 months) since we needed the crib for DS2. And he didn't really realize he could get out of his bed or mess around in his room for quite some time. It was nice!
But now every once in a while if he's not that tired he tries to come out of his room. But we put a baby gate up. If he starts whining too much we just go back there and tell him it's time for bed and tuck him back in, a quick kiss and back out. Try not to give him that much attention.
He regularly alternates between sleeping in his bed or on the little rug in front of his bed on the floor. I don't really care - as long as he sleeps.
I would give him a few more days to get used to it. Good luck!
