Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Siblings and baby naps...

I am having trouble keeping my 4 year old quiet and busy when I am feeding(4 month old is very distractable).  The issue of not being quiet also extends into nap time.  For those of you with more than one, how do you do it?

  • I have my DD bring me books to read while I feed LO. She will usually sit quietly beside me for long enough for him to eat. As far as naps are concerned, I've never made it a point to be quiet while DS was napping. He sleeps through almost anything.
Same here.  I also have colored or done puzzles with DD while DS is nursing.

  • I nurse in baby's room after naps before bringing him out. She is usually able to entertain herself with her kitchen or dollhouse. Sometimes she chooses to go in her room to play instead, which has a gate. He won't nurse if he can see or hear her.

  • kielpinskim I'm in the same boat.  We just bought her a dollhouse for her birthday in a few weeks so hopefully that will keep her busy.  Thanks everyone!

I need 2 hands to nurse and DD#2 won't nurse if DD#1 (age 2) is running around crazy and making noise, she has trouble falling asleep also with lots of noise. Right now what is working for us is having DD#1 play with the toys in my bedroom while I nurse on the bed. She only gets to play with these toys when I am nursing or taking a shower.  When I need to put DD#2 down for a nap I go to nursery and DD#1 will stay in my room playing.
