Working moms

edited July 2013 in April 2013 Moms
Well my return to work date is quickly approaching. I plan on spending as much time with family as possible and a couple of spa/me days before that date. For all of the working moms what things are you guys going to try to get done before your return date to work? Where did the time go?!!!!!!

Re: Working moms

  • I went back to work this past Monday. I just relaxed to be honest lol

Relaxing yes, but I've been wanting a spa day for a while and have not achieved it yet so I'm trying to while I can. I know work and family will probably be consuming. ;)

I was thinking about this today, as well. I have 2 more weeks left until I go back to work. I have so many things that I need to do, but I feel so guilty leaving LO. I made a bunch of apps for one day next week thinking that I could get it all done in one day and not feel so bad for not spending every second I have with LO. I need to start working out again and going to the gym, but I feel like I'm a bad mom if I leave LO at daycare for an extra hour before I pick him up. Is this just me?? I usually try to work out with him. Go for walks or do mommy and baby workouts.

  • Cherish every second you have with lo, but remember to make time for you. You still exist, and need to be healthy and happy.
  • I've been back to work for over a month and since I wasn't getting paid for the last four weeks of maternity leave, definitely didn't have the money for a spa day.

  • I have 2 weeks before I return to work. I'm downloading and cleaning up all pictures I have taken and sending them to print and putting them in an album. I m buying work clothes because I don't fit in anything yet. I'm getting a manicure and pedicure the weekend before

I don't go back until Aug 20 and am not looking forward to it. I'd really like to make it to the beach at least once before then.
  • Since I'm a teacher, I have the next 2 weeks full of training a and meetings with the students starting aug 14. I've been shopping for new work clothes, which I do every year but this year I really needed it. And I'm getting my hair and brows done next week!

I know what you mean. I felt guilty leaving LO at night for a quick workout but I believe that taking care of yourself makes you a better mom to your kids...and you are setting a good example of the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Don't get me wrong I don't get to the gym near as often as I would like but I found a boxing gym that does 30 minute workouts. So I can be there and back in 40 minutes flat.

  • I've been back at work for 7 weeks. I work part time but feel horrible leaving her on the weekends, my hair needs a trim and I just sent my husband grocery shopping. I just want to spend time with my baby before work and the few hours she's awake after work. We just need to get a schedule.
  • I've been back since April! Time flies when you have a preterm baby, huh? Anyway I'm STILL working on permanent childcare for LO. We are on the never-ever-EVER ending waitlist at a daycare, and I have a temporary nanny through mid-September. I am probably going to CRY when she leaves, she is so good with LO.
