Should I be worried? Advice please.

I am a ftm and am 18 weeks & 5 days. I am a little worried because I do not feel baby yet. I occasionally feel a flutter here and there but that's it. Oh and I'm not a thin women btw.

  • Very normal for a ftm. Some don't feel movement til 22 weeks.

  • With my first 2 I didn't feel anything until 22-23 weeks.

  • Breath it's normal. You might not feel for a couple more weeks. Some dont feel till 22. Most dont feel regular movement til 28 weeks. I had an anterior placenta with my DD and didn't feel movement till 25 weeks.
  • Okay. Thanks everyone. That makes me feel a lot better. I've had a miscarriage before at 8.5 weeks. So I am just paranoid about everything. Thanks a bunch.
  • I'm 21 weeks 5 days as of today, and I still only very occasionally feel the little one move. I was freaked out too when I wasn't feeling anything at 18 weeks. But, according to my anatomy scan, he's perfectly healthy (albeit a little short like his father).  You'll feel movement soon.

  • Thanks again
  • Just to verify what everyone else said, my friend who is also pregnant is 18w as well and she has not felt baby kick yet. Your body type affects this and like PPs said, I'm sure you'll start feeling things in the next few weeks. :)

Everything I've read provides a broad range for when you MIGHT start to feel your baby move, from as early as 13 weeks for those who've had babies before to as late as 25 weeks for first time mums.

In addition if you're on the larger side it might take a bit longer for you to feel the movement as you'll have a little more padding.
Myth. Everyone believes that plus size moms feel movement later but that's only the case for external kicks. The baby is inside you, in the same place as everyone else. You'll feel baby when you're supposed to. Keep that in mind, however that the average is normally 20 weeks or so. I felt kicks early, starting at 18 weeks and I'm plus size. They weren't too often or distinct, but now at 20 weeks I feel them more. They still aren't often. There aren't too many. They aren't super strong. But they're there. Don't be worried though if by 20 weeks you still feel nothing, don't panic! My sister was 24 weeks before she even felt flutters. It's just how in tune you are with your body as well as how strong your LO is. (:

  • I am 21 weeks and really have not felt a kick. I have an anterior placenta. My doctor said I might not until mid- August.
