XP- Essure?

Has anyone had the procedure done? If so, what should I expect, what's the recovery like, and would you recommend it? My sister has 2 boys and found out she's pregnant with twins so DH and I are making sure we're 2 and done!

  • I was considering Essure as well. Don't have any experience with it but i kept checking back to see if anyone had responded to you. kInda bummed nobody did.  Did you decide to get it after all?  I think it sounds like a safer option if I'm not able to talk my husband into getting a vasectomy.

I had it done on Monday. Monday I was pretty crampy right after the procedure. Kinda reminded me of the very light early contraction feeling. But by Tuesday I was fine- no pain medicine needed. I'll go back in 3 weeks for a check, then 3 months they do a dye test to make sure the fallopian tubes are completely blocked. I'm still having some light spotting, but I kind of expected that.

  • Thanks for replying to your own post! I've been watching it because I'm having the procedure done next Thurs. When I asked what to expect for the recovery the helpful scheduler told me the doctor would explain after the procedure. Lol.

It really wasn't bad at all. I got kinda nervous when the dr gave me all kinds of percocet and ibuprofon, but literally I took 2 ibuprofen and that was it. No need for anything heavier. The only restriction they gave me was no sex for 2 weeks.
