So DS is so close to rolling over, he's trying SO hard whenever he's on his back to roll to his side. He does as soon as we put him down at night, so last night I started the process to unswaddle. Instead of cold turkey, he's got one arm out. We'll do that for a few nights and then by the end of the week maybe 2 arms out?
I'm hoping this won't be as scary as I thought it would be! Last night he woke up a few times for a paci replacement and then up once to eat around his regular time. Tonight, he's only woken up once for his paci.
any other success stories unswaddling?
Pin me baby!

Re: Unswaddling Success stories?
The first night after DD rolled over for the first time, I just popped her in a sleep sack instead of the swaddle. Put her in the crib on her back and she immediately rolled over and went to sleep! It was like magic! No issues whatsoever. I was partly surprised, but partly not because I figured she'd be a belly sleeper when she was able to do it herself.
The problem we're having now is that she can now roll front-to-back as well, but only rolls in one direction so she gets stuck occasionally on one side of the crib and hasn't yet figured out how to get back, lol. She'll get used to it soon.
We are about to start this process and I keep going back and forth on how I want to do it. Part of me wants to go cold turkey and see how it plays out. The other part of me wants to use the swaddle me, keep both arms out (he's always been fine with the arms out, it's his legs that gets him), and each night loosen the swaddle until it's gone.
He's been rolling back to belly for a week now and for naps (in the crib) he's swaddled from chest down and on his belly. At night he's still in our room on his back, but we are transitioning him to the crib this week.

A week later, we swaddled her arms & put her in a halo sleep sack with the arms swaddles inside to get her used to the sleep sack with the comfort of being swaddled. She slept like that for a week, then we did 1 arm out, 1 arm swaddled inside the sleep sack for another week.
When we finally got to both arms out, it was much better than it had been going cold turkey. But the whole weaning process took us about a month. Some babies transition out of the swaddle really easily. But my DD has wild arms that were always flapping around, so she was waking herself up with the movement. Best of luck to you!
