Pumping props: what do you use?

For those who use double electric pumps: how do you keep the flanges on the girls? I use the hair elastic trick, but I'm just wondering what other people do. :)

  • I'm going to try the elastic band trick. First time I've seen it.

I'd put a Movember mustache fail, but then
you'd all have to look at it until February.

You loop two hair elastics so that they're bound together in a figure 8. Then you loop it around the "safety strap" of your nursing bra (the part that remains after you've unclipped the main strap). You're left with a loop that you can fit over the flange. Repeat on the other side with two more elastics.

I recommend Googling it for a better description. It's not perfect, but it frees up my hands a little bit!

  • First time I'm hearing of the elastic trick. I just cut 2 holes in a sports bra today! I hope that works!

  • I tried the elastics and it didn't work at all. Much prefer the pumping bra!
  • My sleep nursing bra from Target holds them in just fine. I just slide the bra cups over the edges of the flanges and they stay put.

I did that until I found out about the hair elastics. It worked pretty well! That being said, I hated having to change bras before each pumping (the cheap sports bra didn't fit or provide support like my nursing bra). I just keep the elastics on my bra full time!

I do this too, and I have a sports bra I cut two holes in!

  • I have a special hands free bra however i just pull my bra cups back up over the bottom of the flanges. I can eat or do whatever
  • I usually hold them across with one arm so I can play on my phone or computer with the other hand.

What is this hair elastic trick you speak of?

I just bought this bra....excited for it to arrive!
  • You guys wear bras?

Only about once a week....not looking forward to having to wear one everyday when I go back to work in a week! Booo
  • You guys wear bras?

If I go without a bra at all my poor nips hurt like a mofo. Just the slightest brush of fabric against them.. holy hell.

  • Simple wishes, one of my best purchases!

  • I bought a nursing bra.. Worth every penny no WAY would I hold them the entire time! My friend had 3 kids and held them to pump each time, I have no idea how she didn't go insane.

I, too, use a redneck pumping bra (sports bra with nip cutouts). It's really awesome when I have to quickly throw a shirt over just the bra (say, if someone comes to the door while I'm pumping), because inevitably my totally plumped up nipples will poke out the holes. :) Definitely not my best look.

ETA: For the record, this is pretty much the only bra I wear these days.

  • Same bra, same technique. But I am going to have to get a hands free for when I go back to work.
