Epsom Salt Soaks & GD

So I just read the back of my lovely Epsom salt that I love love love and it said “Those with diabetes should not use with warm soaks”. I called me diabetes centre but they are horrible at returning a call so I looked up the reasoning. 1. Those with heavy onset of diabetes sometimes cannot feel their feet therefore a foot soak maybe too hot and they’d burn themselves. 2. The presence of magnesium in your system may make it harder to balance glucose readings. Has anyone ever heard of this before? Thoughts?

Re: Epsom Salt Soaks & GD

  • Weird.....I called my obgyn before I started using them for my feet at 26 weeks, and she said it was fine.  If you're worried about the temp of the water just be sure to stick your hand in the water before your feet! That being said, I'm no physician. But that's what my doc told me :)
