Did Shettles Method work for you? (Boy/Girl conception timing)

Hi all, Wondering if any of you used the Shettles Method to conceive? (where you have sex early in your ovulation cycle to have a girl and later in the cycle to have a boy).

Our first time around we did have sex more toward the end of my ovulation cycle because we wanted a boy and we got one! But that could be coincidence because the end of your cycle is simply the most effective time to have sex.

I ask because this time we want a girl, and I worry that only having sex 3-5 days before ovulation may mean no baby at all.

With 3 of my 5 pregnancys we only had sex 3 days before ovulation. I have 2 boys and do not yet know the sex of this baby. I think shettles is a load of crap...

Personally, I think Shettles is a bunch of bull. Statistics show that if it done "correctly" it gives you a 60% chance of conceiving the desired sex. Well, conceiving the desired sex is a 50/50 shot to begin with, so it only increases the odds by 10% which is not huge. I didn't track ovulation with my first pregnancy so I can't say if it worked or not, but we had a boy. This time we had sex 3-4 days before ovulation which should give us a girl but we don't know the sex yet. However, there is more to Shettles besides timing, like positions and diet which I don't think most couples pay much attention to. TBH I think it's just a 50/50 shot each time you conceive.

Thanks Ladies. Seems its not effective, which actually makes me happy. I would prefer to just have sex every other day during ovulation and not worry about timing it like this. Congrats on all your bumps!!!

Yes and no.

My first two sons we had sex every other day leading up to opk+, then every day once I got a opk+ including day of and day after ovulation. We had two boys that way.

This time we tried for a girl and we only had sex twice, 3 and 5 days before ovulation. I did get pregnant, but Harmony test says its another boy
