Our pedi is really old and laid back (the laid back part fits our parenting style to a tee). He has been seen patients for.ev.er. I loved that the only milestones he asked about at her nine month appointment yesterday were crawling/scooting and babbling. I see people post about all these other things and tests that their pedi's do and I feel like it's overdramatic.

That is what I loved about my pedi. He was actually my pedi when I was a baby. He became partners with three other pedis and they opened an office together. I like all of them but always tried to go when I could see him. He recently retired so sad!

I don't get when adults refer to their pet names for grandparents. Eg "this necklace was my nonna's". Um, that means nothing to me. Just say grandmother!!!

haha my mom tried to pull the "nana" crap with my sister and I. uhhh no. you're grandma. DEAL WITH IT.
I'm not opposed to the use of nick names WITH grandparents, but don't tell random people that your nana gave x to you, etc.
I hate Facebook. I don't think this is an UO. I swear a million and one things annoy me about it. I would delete it but it keeps me connected to family in Europe. That is the only reason I keep it. I often feel depressed after reading my FB feed and I also think it is super boring.
QUIT IT!!! I did. My family and I started a group on Tumblr and we share pics on that now.
I miss gaming. I am shopping for a new laptop, and out of habit I went straight to the gaming laptops. Then it hit me that I don't game, and couldn't even if I wanted to because I don't have time anymore. This makes me sad.
obviously I wouldn't trade Alice for all the games in the world. but still. I miss being able to spend Saturdays camped out at my computer gaming with Husband.

@LauraT25 My parents picked Nanny and Poppy, which I personally love, but I don't think anyone in my family would be offending/offended if someone called my mom Nan/Nana or whatever and her grandmother was Nana. We just don't take it that seriously!
To piggyback though, I don't love when you try to get all cutesy with a whole slew of family members' names. My cousin's parents (my Aunt and uncle) are Mimi and Pops to her daughter, and then her 2 sisters are Aunt Lulu and Aunt Kiki. Why???
DH's parents want to be Nana and Papa. We call them that when we are all together. But at home with LO we call them Gingi and Pop-Pop like on Arrested Development We want her to start calling them that, and they will think it's cute, and we will laugh at this FOREVER!!!
It really bugs me (maybe irrationally) when the grandparents want to pick what they get called. Bonus pissy points if it is something stupid, like MIL always comes up with. IMO, the parents get to pick, and if the kid comes up with something on his/her own, that's really the best option.
My family is boring, people are just Grandma/Grandpa Firstname (or Lastname, when referring to them in conversation). My husband's family has done some nicknames but they are pretty 'normal' ones, and I used to always get confused because I couldn't remember who was who. Once I referred to his living grandmother by his recently deceased grandmother's nickname (Nan vs Nanny) and everyone got all upset about it. I felt really bad, but it kind of pissed me off that people were making me out to be some kind of horrible person. PICK MORE DIFFERENT NICKNAMES.
We do Grandma (first name) and Grandpa (first name). It makes things easier for everyone. DH's mother at one point tried to change what DD1 called her when she was like a year and a half and it was just silly. We told her to stop and move on.

We are referring to my dad as PopPop for the same reason! My niece (first baby of the family) named my parents Grammie and Papa. I figure PopPop is close enough! Hahaha!

it is harder to play for more than an hour at a time i admit. but oh well.
you give me hope!

my great grandmother was "little gramma" when we were kids. she was like barely 5 feet haha.
looking back that seems like quite a jerk thing for us kids to call her. she embraced it though. and she made the best damned cookies ever. i miss those.
you guys just took me back, did you catch that? grandma nostalgia.
We also had a Little Granny! I was taller than her when I was 10! In my family we have Granny and Grandpa (First Name) x 2 because both sets of parents didn't want anything else. My gran is Gogo. (It's "granny" in many South African languages, pronounced to rhyme with door-door, but a shorter vowel, if that makes sense.)

I agree with it being tacky to pick your own nick names. I think if a child/grandchild picks a unique name for you then it has sentimental value and that's cool. Two of my sister in laws got together a couple years back and decided they wanted cool Aunt nicknames. They decided on Aunt Sweetie and Aunt Honey. The Aunt Honey never stuck but Aunt Sweetie did. All of her nieces/nephews call her this and it just grates me every time I hear this. I pray that when DS is older he doesn't use this name.

Ugh my MIL picked names for them I told her the baby would never call her these names and would make up her own names for them but she insisted on: Grams M__ (her first name) and Poppie P__ (his first name) I absolutely hate these names, and my child will never call their grandparents by their first names! Dumb. Wow ...sorry that one has irritated my for 9 months now lol.
My IL's go by Grandma and Grandpa. My dad is Pop and my mom is Memom. My goddaughter started the memom/pop thing and it just stuck.
My MIL insisted on FaceTiming with Bailey yesterday. For more than a half hour. It was ridiculous. She talks to Bailey like shes a small dog. She kept trying to get her to say grandma. Bailey says Mama and MIL swears she's saying grandma. Not sure if its UO, but FaceTime is the worsttttt. It's not like we never see the ILs. We see them at least twice a week... It's toooooo muchhhhhh.
I can't get on the grandparents nicknames talk. My UO is I don't think I like the new Bump format. I was told there'd be sigs on mobile and there aren't. LIARS!!!
