The STTN post is making me sad...

My LO is 6 weeks old yesterday. He still wakes every 1.5-2 hours during the night, if not more than that. He has a difficult time sleeping it seems. He usually gets a good 4 hour stretch in once during the daytime, but never at night. It'll get better soon, I hope!

  • I'm in the same place as you. DD was over 9 lbs at birth and is now over 10. She has had big chunks of sleep occasionally but is usually up every 2 hours all night. Hoping that changes soon.

  • None of my kids every STTN until after a year old! LO will eat his last bottle at 9 and sleep til about 1 and up again at 4.

  • DS just started sleeping better at night and he's 2-years-old. DD has slept 5 and a half hours once. She normally wakes up every 2-3 hours to nurse. Sometimes she gets up every hour. Every night is different.
  • Josh is 8 weeks adjusted and definitely doesn't STTN. He'll do a few four- or five-hour stretches sometimes but it's different every night.

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

  • I think the babies that STTN are the exception, not the rule, we're not close yet either.

We are nowhere near close either. I thought it might be because he was so small when he was born, but after reading these it looks like even some babies over 12 pounds aren't sleeping through the night.
  • Colton just started last week. And he has only STTN three time. He did however space out and now only gets up once. I noticed a big change after the 6 week growth spurt.

This is me! My DS is over 13 lbs!! And he is still getting up and eating every 2 hours at the most. DS1 didn't sleep for 6+ hours until 1 year, so that's what I'm setting myself up for

  • I'm jelous too, my LO sleeps 3 hours first stretch and about two from then on this mommas tiered I-)

  • I was excited about the 4 hour stretch a few days ago. She made up for it by not wanting to sleep more than an hour at a time the next night.

Sounds about right. Haha my lo likes to do things like this too. I am just halt when I can sleep for 3 hours at a time. That still doesn't happen consistently and she will be 8 weeks tomorrow

DS woke every 30-90 minutes until he was almost 2 so don't feel bad. STTN happens when baby is ready.

Same thought here. A. sleeps about five to six hours at most the first stretch, and that's up from waking up every three hours on the dot for seven weeks. I'm happy with that for now, and know he'll start sleeping through the night when he's ready to. Don't let others make you sad!

We lost our first (EDD 07/23/12) after finding out at 12 weeks there was no longer a heartbeat. Our rainbow was born 05/22/13 and was worth all we went through.

  • Ds1 was sleeping through the night by about 6 weeks. He used to wake often until I read a book called healthy sleep habits, happy child or something like that by Dr. Weissbluth. I was putting him to bed at around 9 or 10 and he would wake often. I then started putting him to bed at 7:30 and he would sleep until 4 or 5 in the morning. He was well over 12 lbs by that point as well. I don't know if if was a fluke or if an earlier bedtime does encourage sleep. I plan on doing the same with ds2 when he is about 6 weeks.

  • DS is 13 lbs, and 7 weeks old, and he JUST slept 6 hours straight three nights ago. He has been doing it since then, but I don't expect much from a newb under 3-6 months. DD didn't STTN until she was four months old, and it was a welcome change, but I find that sticking to a bed time routine for a while really helps.
  • wtf? old siggy... I'm 46 weeks pg lol! Also I wanted to add that putting him in his bed when he's on the verge of sleep has really helped as well. You may have to comfort a time or two and lay them back down, but eventually they pass out. I think he is starting to become aware that his bed is for sleep.

Mine doesn't either. I think it is still normal at this point.

  • Oh I'm glad to see this post! My son will have a few 3 hour stretches during the day but at night he's up every 2. I'm glad he goes back to sleep fast but I'm tired! He's a chunkier too weighing 11lbs 4oz at 1 month. Glad I'm not alone!
