Baby Names

Help me spell the name!

My husband and I both really like the name Eleanora. I adore the way it sounds, and I love the nicknames Ellie and Nora.

However, for some reason, the spelling just looks weird to me. I feel like it's just too many vowels crashing together (I've always felt the same way about Eleanor -- beautiful name, looks odd written out).

However, I know that's the normal spelling of the name, so maybe it's just me worrying too much. I want the name to look "normal."

What do you think of the name, particularly the spelling? Do you think an alternate spelling (Elenora, Elanora, Elinora, or something else) would be better? Let me know what you think!

  • Not weird at all...I like Eleanora.  Beautiful name.

  • My daughters name is Eleanora and we call her Ellie :) I love the original spelling but you must love it too :)
  • Eleanora! It is the only way I would spell it.

  • I don't think Eleanora is weird.  But, if I had to choose another spelling, I'd go with Elinora.

  • I think Eleanora is the only "normal" way- Most will assume that this is the spelling, so I'd stick with it.  You'll get used to the vowels. :)

  • I feel like I'm having deja vu.  I swear this is the third post with "Eleanora" this week, and TBH I'd never even heard this variant before!  Was it just on a television show or movie?

I think Eleanora is the only spelling which doesn't look strange to me.

Weird!  I've only ever heard it once in my whole life, and it was a little girl at my church.  Maybe it's not as unique as I thought!

As someone who has a weird affinity for two vowels together, I would stick with the traditional spelling.

  • While I like the traditional spelling, you could possibly do Elinora, since Elinor is a variant of Eleanore.
