Tell me not to give up.

For two weeks (almost three) I have been working out fairly hard (cardio) 5-6 times a week and mostly controlling my calories, tracking with MyFitnessPal.  I say mostly because there were three meals in that time that were outside of my calorie range.  Tell me that I will start to see some movement on the scale soon, and that my clothes will stop being so tight. I feel like if anything, they've gotten tighter, and the scale isn't moving.I have three weeks before I go back to work and have to wear work clothes.  Tell me I won't look like a sausage.  I'm not thinking I'll lose 20 pounds in three weeks.  Just tell me my clothes will fit.
Or, tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Re: Tell me not to give up.

  • Well...for starters, sounds like you are only doing cardio.  And you've only been at it a few weeks.  Change does not happen overnight.  When I returned to work after ML, I had to buy a few staple pieces that got me through until I could start shedding the weight and my body returned to 'normal.'  Your body has changed, and it is not going to change back overnight.

  • Yeah...my DD is 2.5.  I lost my PP weight and then some.  It came back.   I'm trying to get back on track.

    So, strength training, too?
  • I realized that response might have sounded rude.  I'm not trying to be--I'm embarrassed that I've gained the weight back and that my fat clothes don't fit.  I just go so frustrated when I tried on a pair of pants this morning.  I know I need to work harder, eat better, and be patient.  thanks.
  • It sounds like you're focused on the right things: tracking what your eat and staying active. It might be something that will take a bit of time for your body to adjust, but it could also be that you need to adjust your macronutrient balance. Macronutrients just mean your balance of carbohydrate, fat, and protein. Do you know what your intake balance is right now? It's not just how many calories you eat, but it's what kind of calories you eat.

  • I would def do some strength training in addition to cardio.  Remember that your metabolism takes a bit to adjust when you start an exercise program too.  Just keep on truckin!!

  • Great for you for making a change to be healthier!! It is a huge first step to even be counting calories, so you are in the right direction. My fitness pal is awesome, have you looked to see what % of carbs, proteins and fats you are eating? On your homepage you can view a sample pie chart that tells you how much you have of each. Try to aim for 40% protein, 30% carb, 30% fat. When I first started counting calories, I noticed most of mine were calories from carbs, tracking the percentage should help you obtain the results you wants! Best of luck and keep going!!
