Ovulation Test

Has anyone used an Ovulation Test to conceive? I want to purchase it in order to determine when is the best time to conceive. Can someone tell me how it works? Does it tell you exactly when you are ovulating?

I have not used OPK, but honestly, I would use a combination of charting temps (fertilityfriend.com is awesome) and OPK's.

I've heard that Wondfo's (super cheap on amazon) are pretty great.

The benefit of FF (fertility friend) is that you can learn about your cycles and see when you did ovulate or maybe when you should start OPK's. It might take a couple of cycles to understand everything, but it's awesome.

Sorry I am new to OPKs too. They don't actually tell you if you are ovulating? I thought that was the whole point.

Nope, they don't tell you when you ovulate, just the gearing up for ovulation like Mand said. The Clear Blue Easy Advanced Digital tracks two hormones, estrogen (when you're gearing up) and your LH surge (when an egg is supposed to release) so they may be more helpful if that's what you're looking for but they are pricey.

OPKs aren't perfect but they are very helpful. Normally once you get a positive OPK you will ovulate within a couple days. Sometimes your body will gear up to ovulate (meaning the hormones the OPK detects will spike) but then you don't actually ovulate. Temping is the only way to confirm that you did ovulate and to pinpoint they day it most likely happened.

Wondfos are fairly cheap and sold on amazon. They have several size packs to choose from and some come with pregnancy tests.

Well darn, I bought the OPKs only for this first round of trying. I'll have to start temping the second time around. Thanks for the info!
