Growth spurt?

Is there a growth spurt around 8 or 9 months? All of a sudden my DD is waking up every couple of hours in the middle of the night, gets fussy during the day, and is eating more solids. She just turned 8 months with no teeth. Her naps are a nightmare and will cry for up to 30 min or more at night. The only way I can soothe her is to nurse her. I just have no idea what to do at this point.
