So, I know we've talked about this before, but who has a Merina (sp?) and do you like it?

I am sure I will have a low nursing supply and so I don't want to mess with the mini pill or other BC. I'm looking for something semi permanent after this LO comes because if we do have a 4th it's going to be a long time from now. DH is scared of the paraguard because he's a paramedic and took a woman into the hospital that had one puncture her uterus.

I'm open to suggestions too... What do you use and do you like it??

    Also interested in responses. My 6 week follow up appt is next Tuesday and I'm seriously considering the mirena. Very nervous about the insertion and placement though.

    I have the Mirena and love it. Really I have had no issues besides like 2 weeks of on and off bleeding after it was first placed. I got it at my follow up appointment after DS was born and it never affected my supply because I nursed DS for 11 months before he weaned himself. Also I have had literally 3 periods (2 days of spotting) since having DS. Best BC for long term I think.

    Statistically speaking that Paragard incident won't happen to you. If you're worried about any kind of hormonal issues that could interfere with BFing I would bring it back to the table for discussion with your med provider.
    My SIL had the Mirena slip loose and perforate her uterus. So, it doesn't really matter what you're using, it is still a foreign body that runs the chance of perforating your insides.
    Things I have had that didn't work out for me:
    Depo - the first round of 3 months was perfect. When I had my second injection I spotted for 3 months.
    NuvaRing - caused a UTI when inserted and removed. So I had two back to back UTIs in one 30 day period.
    I wouldn't recommend either BC method.

    I have had the Mirena since June 20. Been spotting ever since.






    ...but I'm not pregnant so I'll take that :)
