I am wondering how much infant adoption costs in Ohio. I am also wondering of cost internationally. My husband and I have been ttc our first child for two years and I am now starting to think that adoption maybe another option. Please let me know of any good resources and what you found cost wise.

Re: Calling Ohio members
I think it really depends on what agency you work with. We're working with an agency in northern Ohio and it will be about $26,000. We don't know exactly because we aren't matched yet and don't know what the legal fees will be. I'd suggest starting by having a few phone conferences or attending an info meeting or two with some agencies you're looking to work with. Good luck!

We started our domestic infant adoption process in October, 2012 with an agency in northern Ohio. Right now we are home study approved and waiting to be matched. So far we have had 8 birth families look at our profile and choose another family. I've been told it's an average of 15 times your book is shown, and 6 - 24 months waiting. Our home study was approved in January, so technically we've only been waiting to be matched for about 6 months - I'm not overly concerned yet (but extremely anxious) since it's still relatively early for us. The process really hasn't been terrible - frustrating at times, yes, but not difficult to complete.
I would definitely suggest researching a few agencies (local and national) as well as your county's Childrens Services department. We attended a meeting with our county, but they no longer offer "straight" adoption - only foster to adopt, which we aren't looking at right now. Attend a few informational meetings or set up conference calls/skype interviews until you get all the information you need!
Not to self promote, but if you click the "Timeline" link at the top of our blog, there is a straight forward list of everything we have done since begining our process. Link should be below.
Good luck!
