Natural Birth

Intro

Hello!
I have been lurking forever but I thought I'd do an intro at last.  I am 32 weeks and went into this process planning for an epidural then after educating myself and talking with other mommas figured out I really didn't want that at all!  I am working on my birth plan and trying to get my husband on board for support, he is a little hesitant.  We did the general hospital birth prep classes which were really informative and the instructor actually seemed to lean towards unmediated preference even though she never outright said it.  I've read Ina May's book and working on researching some other things to be prepared since we did not start out with natural plans.  I just wanted to say I've loved reading all the birth stories and questions/answers on this board, very helpful!

Re: Intro

  • Welcome!  Since it sounds like you are having a hospital birth have you read Henci Goers book "A thinking womans guide to a better birth?"  It discusses all the possible interventions you may encounter and the pros vs cons of each.  I found it really helpful and a great addition to my Bradley class. You may have covered a lot of that information in the hospital birth class.

thanks I will check it out! Yes we are having a hospital birth but with a midwife so from what I understand they have more options/flexibility with less pressure on the interventions at our hospital.
