Temping and charting

Has anyone charted? or does so currently?

Do you feel like it helps?
Like it?
Love it?
Waste of time?
I'm thinking about doing it this coming cycle...but, I would love to know your thoughts...

Thanks!

Re: Temping and charting

  • I've done it before.  If you are good about doing it every morning, and you usually get up at the same time every day - then it can be useful in helping track your cycles.  I was terrible at remembering to do it in the mornings.  I always get to the end of the month and wish I had temped, because that would be one more thing I could scrutinize for signs of being ku.

  • I temped/charted for a few months. It was helpful with my ocd tendencies to see how I was progressing each month, to make sure I was ovulating, to check for possible LPD, etc. But it also made me a little crazy...Ever single change I charted made me jump on the computer to consult google. And it was difficult to do it at the same time every morning because I wake up earlier for work than I do on the weekend or if DD was waking up in the middle of the night/early morning. It would throw off my temp. I would recommend charting with fertility friend. It helps analyze/average ovulation days, give you best times to BD. It was so helpful! I stopped after a while because it was too much.

  • I charted for a few months after I got off BCP just before I got pregnant with my DD. I do think charting is beneficial and helps you know more about what your body is doing. I was able to know when I was ovulating and we were able to time BD and we got pregnant right away. It's not really difficult you just have to remember to take your temp before you do anything else in the morning and around the same time every morning. That was the hardest part because I'm in such a fog in the mornings that I would just get up and not even think about it.

  • I like it & think it helps. At least it did w/ DD. I am using OPKs too, but there have been times when I didn't O until over 48 hrs after my positives (smiley faces). If I wasn't temping, I wouldn't know. And OPKs tell you that your body is preparing to O but the temp rise shows you actually did (at least that's what my reading shows, I'm certainly not an expert). It also helped me identify my short LP.

  • I chart, it helps, I don't love actually waking up and temping and recording it- but love the data and can definitely see the rise and helps me for better planning. I use an app called My Days, super easy and free
