Boogies

When your LO has boogies and you can hear that their breathing during their sleep is more forced and probably uncomfortable, do you wake them to suck out the boogies? Decisions, decisions...

Re: Boogies

  • Not unless he's obviously uncomfortable. I read somewhere that over use of the bulb sucker can lead to more swelling and discomfort.

  • Speaking of snot... how do you get them out, if you can see them, but can't reach them? I've tried the blue bulb sucker but it's too big to really get into the nostril.

  • We use a combination of the Nosefrida and the blue bulb. The Nosefrida does a pretty good job of pulling them to the front of the nostril.
  • Thanks - I think I need to get one of those!

  • If you think it'll wake your LO up, I'd wait. My LO would probably sleep through it, plus she smiles when I use the blue bulb in her nose...unless it takes a few times to get the boogie out. It's amazing how big the boogies are that come out of their little noses!!
  • Make sure to use some saline drops before you suction - it works MUCH better.  Rather than buying the specific drops, you can use contact solution (saline) or make your own 1/4 tsp with 8 oz H20.
