Crib sleep

I want to start transitioning my LO to a crib. She currently sleeps with me, on my arm, and during naps, if we don't nap together her head is supported by a boppy (I'm in the same room with her the whole time to check on her) The thing is I'm sure she is used to having something under her head like my arm or boppy. And I'm thinking that might be why she can't/won't sleep in the crib. I don't want to put a pillow in there for obvious reason so do you ladies have any tips?

Re: Crib sleep

  • How old is she? Is the crib in your room or in a different room?

You could sidecar the crib against your bed first so that she gets used to sleeping in it while being near you and among familiar sounds and smells. That might make the transition less stressful...and also makes breastfeeding much easier.

As for propping her, could you tilt the mattress slightly instead? The solution would really depend on her age, I think.

  • If she is older then you might try a smaller toddler pillow under the sheet

  • Sorry she is 6 months old. Her crib is right next to the bed on my side, but that doesn't make much of a difference

  • i've seen "crib wedges" that prop the baby up and are supposed to be safe.
