High-Risk Pregnancy

Short cervix dilated 1cm

I am 20 weeks and at my sono they found out I have a short cervix and am dilated to 1cm. This is my third pregnancy and first two were completely normal so I'm in so
much shock! I'm at hospital and tomorrow they plan on doing the cerclage as long as I don't have any infection. I am so scared to lose the baby and am freaking out! Please give me some positive experiences! Thanks so much!

Did u need an amino to check for infection first?

  • I am dilated to a 1 because of per term labor. I am on BR now, but there has been no change in a couple of weeks. Try not to worry too much. It sounds like your dr know what to do to help you get further along.

  • Everything will be fine and I bet you go full term. I am on my second pregnancy and have had cerclages with both. For my first one, I was 20 weeks with a .8 cervix and 2 cm dialated. I did have bedrest from 20w to 37w with my first. With this second pregnancy, I had a preventative cerclage placed at 16w and I have been on modified bedrest since 27w due to my cervix getting shorter. Baby is right against my cerclage. I'm almost 32 weeks. Good luck!

Thanks ladies! I had the cerclage put in yesterday but I feel like I'm going to be so nervous for the rest of the pregnancy!
