GTKY: Perks of Pregnancy

I've done my fair share of whining here about morning sickness and what not,  so lets chat about something more positive tonight.  What are the perks you are finding with pregnancy? Obviously the biggest perk is that I'm having a baby, but what are the little things that make you happy?

My perks so far:

1. My nails are super long and strong (due to my prenatal vitamins I guess)

2. I can nap when I want to without a side eye from anyone. This happens daily actually.

3. DH insist on being the one to vacuum the house now, and I gladly let him since I normally do almost all the chores.

4. I was dieting and counting calories before my BFP. Now I'm putting extra chocolate syrup on my ice cream.  (Yes I do try to eat healthy but right now its about whatever I think I can keep down.)

5.  Not gonna lie, I like the extra attention. Stick out tongue

So what are your perks?

  • I agree with your number 4! I was doing the Lose It app daily to track my calories and try to lose some weight....now I can take a little break!

This for sure!! I am also liking the attention but not all of the unsolicited advice!

I am also liking the excuse to buy new clothes, even though they are maternity, there is some cute stuff out there and I haven't shopped for myself in ages!

Also, not having to suck in my tummy! letting it all hang out.

    1. DH running to the store every time I want something. Last night it was stuff to make an Italian soda. 2. Napping with DS daily 3. DH doing more of the house work

How funny! I'm drinking an Italian cream soda right now. I have one every night actually because its the only thing I can drink these days. So yummy!

  • 1. DH is super attentive...more so than usual! I'm a lucky gal!

    2. Cravings for tasty food!

    3. The fatigue has been killing me, but not feeling bad about getting extra rest has been great.

  • ITA with PP - LOVE not having to suck in my tummy!

My #1 perk is always getting a seat on the subway. OOOoohh do I miss that after I have the baby.

  • I second the napping without judgement! Getting to buy some new clothes without feeling guilty is another one for me.

  • Perks I have found are that hubby accepts whatever I want to eat and no longer complains. I get to buy new clothes. My hair is growing really fast and my nails are stronger. Things I am not to crazy about are the boobies! I was a 36D, then a week ago had to get a new bra a 38DD and already its a bit snug.  But the biggest and bestest perk is Baby!!!!
My hubby and I have been together since 2008. Married 5 years in Dec. DX with PCOS and annovulatory hypothalamus. TTC for baby #2 for 10 months BFP on May 29th 2015

I too am loving the boobies! Lol

I like not watching what I eat especially knowing that this will be my last time being pregnant...

  • Forgetting my fitness pal calorie tracker

Having DH do way more stuff with the kids than usual since I'm exhausted.

This is what I was using also. And I'm glad I don't need to anymore. At least for 6 more months!

The napping!  I can sleep frequently without feeling too lazy.  ;-)

    1. My skin is amazing! It has never looked this good. I was not expecting this.

    2. DH is spoiling me and won't let me carry anything more than the laundry basket up and down the stairs.

    3. Nap time is justified!

    4. My boobs are looking awesome.

  • I definitely agree that the boobies and not sucking my tummy in are the biggest perks.
I have never actually had to worry about falling OUT of my top before.  Even my sister (who has boasted for years about being the youngest and having the biggest boobies) is jealous!

I also love that I don't feel bad for craving certain foods. I've stayed true to my healthy diet, except for a few things.  The hardest part for me is that my biggest craving is lunchmeat. I want Jimmy John's every day and I know I can't have it. :(

Back to positive, I also love that my hair is growing longer faster. I've been trying to grow it out (after an awful cut) for a year now. So by the time LO gets here it will be nice and long!

    1. My DH has been crazy helpful around the house.
    2. I don't feel *as* guilty for eating whatever I want, although I do try to stick with good choices. It's just relaxing to not obsessively count calories.
    3. I finally have boobs! :)

  • I love the boobies :)

Again who doesn't love eating what they want!!! I will try to eat more healthy once I can keep more food down!

My son is behaving extra good because mommy has a baby in her tummy! ;) he will take my plate to the sink, cleans up his own room, makes his bed lol WOW is this all it took hehe?

I'm still waiting for the perks of no more morning sickness... But when the baby comes it will all be a distant memory!

GREAT idea ladies... It's so easy to feel miserable when you're sick and exhausted! I love looking at the positives!

I'm so jealous of the helpful husbands! Around midnight my husband was just griping to me about how the house was looking. And no naps because my DS doesn't take any.

So far I'm not getting any perks with being pregnant except knowing there is a baby in there and how my DS loves to kiss/rub on 'his' gummy bear. Now I'm bummed cuz I get no special treatment or help :(. I'm running if to cry now. *tear* lol

Ugh! All you ladies loving your big boobies! Mine were 36DD BEFORE I was pregnant (I'm only 5'2") and now they are 36G! I feel like they are crushing my rib cage. I can't wait until after I'm done nursing and they go down.

This! I was a 38DD and an now a 40 H. Holy back pain, Batman! Hubby loves it tho.

I love maternity pants. They are the most comfortable things ever!! And my hair is so shiny!
  • I am soaking in the attention from DH.

Don't love the boobs. Please don't grow anymore.

  • 1) I agree about the nails :)

    2) My hair is growing, although I'm still trying to decide if it's a pro or con (my hair is already thick and pretty healthy)

    3) New clothes to fit my bump!

    4) I can feel the baby almost every day now!

  • 1) I agree with PP about the nails and hair both growing crazy fast and healthy.

    2) DH has been an enormous help around the house (helps he is a teacher and off for the summer).  I am loving coming home to dinner almost ready--helps stave off ravenous, crazy pregnant wife!  I am really in awe of how much he has stepped up!

    3) Everyone that knows is so excited for us and I love that!  I could do without the patting of the blump right now but still love the general happiness from friends & family!

    4) Eating what I want, when I want is a huge perk, though makes me worry about just how much "baby" weight I'm putting on.

Yeah, I'm also not loving the boobs.  I think if I'd been small to start with, I'd like it, but going 2 sizes up from a D cup definitely pushes them over the line from attractive to "massive inconvenience."  I have to sleep in a bra.

To me, the best thing about being pregnant, other than the fact that there's a baby at the end of the road, is that I'm not cycling.  I've now missed 3 periods, which rocks my world.
