TTC after 35

Intro and Question

Hi ladies,

I am 38 years old and my DH and I are trying to conceive baby # 2. It took us 4 years to conceive our first DD who is now 2 years old! We found out 2 years into trying that I had a pallup that was causing a blockage. Once the pallup was removed we were able to conceive with no firtility medicine. I was 35 at the time.

We have been trying for # 2 since September of last year. As of today I am 4 days late (14 DPO). I took a test on Friday (1 day late, 10 DPO) and it was negative. I told my DH that if I didnt start today that I would take another test. I have to wait until I get home from work and it is driving me crazy.... Today I am having dark brown stringy discharge. I dont remember if this happend last time I was pregnant.

As much as I want to run home and take this test, I am so scared. I am afraid of the let down if it comes back negative... Anyways, any of you who are trying for number 2, 3 or so on, do you remember if you had this discharge when you first were pregnant. I guess I am just trying to ease the disapointment if it is negative...

Thanks ladies, 15 minutes of work lef then I am going straight home and testing. I keep telling myself that if it is negative not to get down about it. But I am sure you all understand that horrible let down feeling when there is only 1 line :(

I will let you all know how it goes and thanks for being so nice! I was a little hesitant on posting this as I know some of the boards can get pretty catty with new posters. :)

I hope all of our journeys are short and sweet on this board. Good Luck and talk to you ladies soon!

I didn't have discharge with either of my pregnancies but that doesn't really mean anything! Good luck on the test and come back here if you need to vent that it was negative and you're disappointed. And of course, let us know if it's a bfp!

Yes, I had the same type of discharge when I got pregnant, but it was only when I wiped and around 11dpo. I had tested at 11dpo and got a BFN and then tested again at 14dpo and got the surprise of my life... A BFP at age 38 with no meds! I was lucky. So it is possible to have implantation spotting although it's not very common.
Me: 44 DH: 42. DS born healthy at 40 weeks 8/24/09. TTC since then with no luck or ART. Surprise BFP 8/6/14... MMC @ 8 weeks 4 days... Miss you everyday sweet baby angel.

Congrats on your BFP!! I was intrigued by what you said about a pallup... is that a polyp? If we're talking about the same thing, Ihave one, and have long suspected it might be an issue in not being able to conceive. The doctors I went to all dismissed it, though, and said that I should do IVF at my age.

How did they remove it and was it done at the Dr.'s suggestion?
