Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Rocking head back and forth

Baby Sweaters has started rocking his head back and forth very fast when we put him down to sleep.  He started this a while ago and it was very slow but the last few nights it's be very vigorous.  I'm assuming this is normal. Just wanting to hear from other moms on if they've experienced this as well and if/when it goes away.  Side note: this started just as he began to STTN (or close to).

  • We also have this. I have assumed this is another method for her to fight sleep. We are still swaddling as she flails arms and legs to stay awake.

  • DD does this too.  I interpreted it as a self-soothing strategy.

  • Our LO does this when he is teething. I thought he had an ear infection but nope just teething.... it came along with drooling, gnawing on his hands, etc
