Anyone getting any type of postpartum support/girdle?

I know that you don't have to have them, but I wanted some support for afterwards. My tummy muscles, mid back, and sides are very sore. I figured a little extra support will help me out after the little one gets here. I ordered the Bellefit after reading many positive reviews. I'm hoping that it's as good as the reviews. I've looked into the Hipslimmer as well. My little one keeps my hips popped out of place along with my butt. I know, it sounds weird, but my butt literally pops every time I get out of bed. My hips pop several times a day. LO has even left bruises at my ribs and belly button. I think I just ran out of room in there and am about stretched out. Anyone else in this predicament and needing or looking for extra support postpartum? Anyone tried these products before?

  • I haven't purchased anything yet, but I'm most likely going to get the Le Leche League post parturm binder for the first couple of weeks, and then purchase something like the squeem once I get to small for the first one.

A lot of women are saying they need two different sizes, and they get too small for their first binder after the first week or two. I figure I'll just purchase something inexpensive for the bigger size, and spring for the second one since I'll most likely be using it for longer.

  • I ordered a Dale abdominal binder on Amazon. It had good reviews and was half the price of the bellafit

  • I've never found it necessary.

I do believe they give you one at the hospital if you have a c-section though.

  • No. They look really enticing, but I think I am going to see what the "situation" looks like before I spend the money to get one.

Thisis exactly what I did. I have a larger binder for the first few weeks that was like $15. And I bought a Squeem in a smaller size for after the first one gets too big

  • My hospital provided me with a support band after my c/s.

  • Hmmm...I never heard of the Squeem. Sounds interesting! I used something my sister lent me that looked more like a knock-off Belly Bandit. It was okay support-wise, but it made me hot in the summer heat and I felt you could see it under clothes.
  • Definitely planning on it. Used a belly bandit with my son 3 years ago and had flat non pregnant belly in 2 days. My best friend had same amazing results. I have 2 sizes of belly bandits from before which I will use initially at home but planning to get a belle fit or squeem that I can wear out of the home without it showing under my clothes.

As a physical therapist, I do think it is a must if you have any diastasis recti. The american physical therapy association recommends the bellefit
  • I've used the bellefit along with shrinxhips (or hipshrinx) I can't remember the exact name and together they have been the best postpartum support, for me.  I know they aren't cheap, but they were worth every penny.
