Hi Ladies-
Just thought I'd share my story in case others were having the same issues. My DD has always been a relatively "fussy" baby. The past 5 days have been the worst (she's 12 weeks). She has been eating only half of what her daily intake should be. She should have been eating around 30 oz. of formula/day but she was only taking 15-20 oz. It would take her 45 minutes to eat 2-3 oz. She also wasn't sleeping well and was only content if she was held upright with pressure on her belly. I took her to the doctor yesterday and she diagnosed her with silent reflux (she wasn't spitting up). She said the sudden drop in daily consumption with the length of time to eat were concerns. She prescribed Zantac twice a day. I gave her the first dose of medicine and for the first time in her 3 months of life she ate 6 oz. in one sitting. She has never had more than 3 oz. The doctor said she was likely hungry all the time but it hurt to eat because of the reflux. She also slept for 5 hours last night, woke up for 30 minutes to chug 3 oz. and then went back to sleep for another 5 hours. It was pure heaven. And now my little bug is happy as a clam.
The first pediatrician we saw at 4 weeks said she was just a "fussy" baby and that nothing was wrong. The doctor we saw yesterday said this was probably the issue all along.
So happy to have a pleasant baby, at least for now.
