Sore throat

My doctor never gave me a list of medicines I can take. I know I can take Tylenol for headaches and what I can take for heartburn, but is there something for sore throats?

    Gargling with warm salt water will help and lots of freezer pops.

    Regular cough drops with benzocaine or menthol are on my approved pregnancy drug list.  In my opinion though, menthol is the nastiest thing around so I avoid it.  But, some people like the medicinal taste and cooling sensation.  Benzocaine numbs the throat, but also your mouth and tongue, which is a little weird.

     Really though, the biggest benefit of cough drops is sucking on them.  If you aren't sure about using them (or you think they taste nasty like me), hard candies work well, too.
