Buying New Mattresses for LO

We're ready for a big kid bed.  We set out to buy mattresses.  It's apparently been quite some time since we've purchased mattresses, because mattresses which are two-sided (to turn over), are no longer very common.

Nonethless, I found a set, but they are a little pricey.  I'm all for modern standards and technology, but at the end of the day... it's a mattress, after all... and I can't help but feel like for a kid, you especially need the two sides, even with a mattress cover.

If you bought/ will buy new mattresses, how important would a 2-sided feature be to you?

  • We bought a two sided - it was important to us, because it lasts longer.

When buying one for our 3 year old, we already had a platform bed so we only needed a mattress not a box spring.

I think we spent maybe 200 on the twin mattress and waterproof mattress pad.   Is it the best mattress out there? no.  But does it do the job and LO loves his big boy bed?  absolutely.

  • We got one of the nicest ones that ikea has and a heavy duty water proof pad. I didn't think the two sides was that important, if it gets so dirty that u wouldn't want to use that side it's not like j would want to just flip it over and leave it there.
