Has anyone ever seen their after lunch numbers rise? I have been getting numbers in the 140's two hours after lunch the last three days. At first I thought it was becuase we were traveling so I couldn't make as good of choices. But, today after lunch at work (eating a morning snack, lunch combo that on Thursday gave me a 104 after lunch) I got another reading of 144. I had a chicken salad sandwich on whole grain brain, cottage cheese and 17 grapes. My morning snack was crackers and cheese. My other numbers (fasting, after breakfast and after dinner) have all been in control (between 104-114). It is just my lunch number the past 3 days that I cannot get down. Any words of advice?
Re: GD Diet Question
If I don?t have eggs and whole wheat toast at breakfast if spikes my afternoon numbers no matter what I have. So try looking for a pattern between your breakfast and afternoon meals.
At your ?1 hour after meal? mark take a 10 min. walk.
Make sure you have something like 32-64 oz. of water between your afternoon meal and you?re reading.

2 slices of bread doesn't work for me either, unless it is the tiny full grain pieces.
And agree with the grapes comments. They are one of the highest sugar content fruits so I avoid those altogether.
Try substituting the grapes for another fruit and see how you go, then change breads if you still get a higher reading. It's best to only tweak one thing at a time with diet changes, to see what works best.
Yes. I had the hardest time with lunch numbers.
I would take a 30 minute walk right after lunch (I stopped a couple weeks ago because it was getting too hard - I am 38 weeks).
Also, I almost always eat a 2% Fage Greek Yogurt (unsweetened), 2 cups of strawberries and 15 carbs of something else (crackers usually) for lunch. Which I found to be helpful.
I found my blood sugar was hardest to control at about 35 weeks. It usually peaks at about 36 weeks (according to my GD counselor). I could tell by my fasting numbers, which slowly rose until about 35 weeks and then went back down.
When you've been married this long, you need a ticker to remind you.
