Any experience with co sleeping and foster care?

My daughter is eleven months old and co sleeps with my partner and I. She is usually up every 2-3 hours to nurse, every hour sometimes (rare nights, thank goodness).

I am in MA and I have read that even foster children can share a room with foster parents until they are 2 so I would imagine they wouldn't bring up my daughter sharing a room with us until at least 2?

I was wondering if any one has any insight on this? Obviously I can ask the agency and I will have to eventually but I am looking for any experiences. I am not really willing to kick my daughter out at 2, if she wants to stay with us so I was kinda hoping this a is a rule they 'don't tend to really enforce?'

We are also only looking to foster older children. The agency mainly deals with age 14 and over anyway. For many reasons but one being a teenager wouldn't even want to sleep in our room anyway (of course, haha) so there would be no jealously as there might be with a younger child.

You can do as you see fit with your child. You cannot co-sleep or bedshare with a foster child.

awesome! Just what I was hoping for! Thanks!

  • I used to approve foster homes.  I really only cared where the foster child slept.
  • Awesome, such a relief to hear all this! Thank you for all th answers!
