iphone app

Hello!  has anyone tried a fetal monitor iphone app?  There are a few out there and the reviews are 50 50.  I really want to try one by why waist 4 or $5 if it doesn't work.

Re: iphone app

  • I don't even understand the purpose. What sort of fetal monitoring do you expect it to do?
Six years of infertility and loss, four IUIs, one IVF and one very awesome little boy born via med-free birth 10.24.13.

  • I broke down and bought it last week after reading some positive reviews. It is supposed to say as a Doppler for 5 bucks. I could get it to work. I say don't waste your money. I was getting anxious to hear baby and wanted other people to hear that aren't at the doctors visits with me. Bummer

  • the definition of a fetal monitor-

    fetal monitor

    noun

an electronic monitor that monitors fetal heartbeat

I would expect to hear and see the heart beat DebateThis. That is what the app says it does so that's what I would expect it to do.

  • I just don't get how, technologically speaking, an app can make my phone emit ultrasonic waves and also give it the ability to turn around and unscramble the bounced back waved into data.

I think there's a reason that home dopplers are the price they are.

ETA: oh, okay, I see this is not supposed to be a Doppler but just uses the mic. Um, I am still skeptical.

I think it's because it for later I. Pregnancy, like 20 plus weeks when you can most likely hear the ha with a stethoscope. I got the app to work on my heartbeat, but not LO's

  • I have the BabyScope app. It uses the mic as well. I've used it a handful of times, and gotten a heartbeat twice...and can hear the kicks I feel. It apparently works best during the third trimester, though, when baby is bigger.
  • thanks for the info!  I will try it and let you all know if it works.  I hope it does :)
