BLW - do you leave the skin on the avocado?

Maybe a dumb question...but do you cut it in wedges and leave the skin on to make it easier to hold or take it off?

Re: BLW - do you leave the skin on the avocado?

  • No.  But I did leave the skin on peaches (when we first started BLW) as they were super slippery.  Now DS is very good at picking up food, even very slippery ones, so I leave the skins off everything.

  • I don't blw but when I do start to give chunks of food like that it help to roll it in something like smashed Cheerios. Then it isn't so slippery.
  • You can also roll in wheat germ to help with grip!

  • When we started I took the skin off and just let him work it out himself. He didn't get frustrated but if he would have I'm sure I would have left the skin on.

  • I take it off because she just bite the skin and tried to eat it the time I did try to leave it on. I ended up taking a break from avocado until she got better at her grip. She's 8 months now and doesn't have a problem with it.
