NY in late september

who has two thumbs and is hitting NYC in late september?

YesYes  MOI!!

Anyhoo, I need to know what to expect in terms of the weather. Also what attire would be appropriate for said weather. Keep in mind I live in a tropical country so I'm pretty much clueless.

I could google, but it's always much more fun to ask you guys.

 TIA.

Re: NY in late september

  • September/October are my absolute favorite times to visit. It isn't too cold so you can enjoy the outdoor things--but you aren't sweating walking around there.

    Definitely go!

  • Ny in sept is iffy ... I would wear jeans and a t shirt with comfy shoes and bring a light jacket or sweater. Maybe pack a scarf just in case. Expect it to get chilly at night. Have fun!

It really depends on the year but usually cool, crisp but comfortable days and chilly nights. Jeans and a sweater for the day, warm coat and hat at night. Some Septembers are warmer than others though, you'll get the occasional run of 70 degree days and 50 at night. I'd say usually you're more in the 60s during the days and 40s at night.

No way!  End of Sept is always a bit warm still (I am always dying to wear boots but its still too hot). It would be rare for a warm coat and hat to be needed!  (Maybe upstate where it is cooler but not in NYC). I agree with the other pp's.  Jeans, short sleeved shirts should be fine.  You will need a sweatshirt or light jacket at night.  Fall in NY is the BEST.  Lots of fun fall festivals!
