Molars

Just wondering how it well (or not) it went for your LO.  I figured DS was getting a teeth but at his dr appt last week she said he had all 4 molars coming in.  He actually isn't too bad during the day but at naps and night time he doesn't want to let go of us and typically wakes up in the middle of the night so I sleep with him.  He must flip around every minute, can't wait for these to be in!

I just took DS in last week because I thought he had an ear infection and the Pedi said it was all four molars too. Honestly, it hasn't been as horrible as I thought. I try to keep him fairly occupied during the day so he doesn't have time to think about his teeth and at nighttime I give Tylenol or ibuprofen. I've tried all the cold tethers and Sophie and basically bought every teething toy imaginable and he could care less about them. So long story short Tylenol and I pray it ends soon and doesn't get worse.

  • DS hasn't had his molars come in yet, but DS is getting his i-teeth right now and it is a little rough on him.

We try and give him ibuprofen and use just  a little bit of orajel (that we keep in the fridge so it is cold and feels good) when he needs it most.

    Hope the break through soon!

  • Molars didn't seem to bother my son all that much, but now that he's starting to cut his canines.... he's so clingy and waking up in the MOTN again.  (for the last 3-4 days). Poor guy.

Molars are starting to become a disaster.  I can see one that has broken thru but he has been waking at night and not sleeping during the day as well.  Today DC called and said he had a 101.5 temp (rectal) my SIL picked him up and she says he seems fine and just wanted to sleep.  I do think its teeth because he has been super picky about eating too.....I hate when they go from super great, happy guys to a week where they are a total crab A** every day.  ugh....

  • So this probably is a stupid question but how can you tell if molars are coming in? It takes a wrestling match with DS just to see if his top two teeth are coming in. How the heck do you see the molars? And forget about feeling around in his mouth...he doesn't sit still long enough for me to change him let alone investigate his mouth!

Yes - my daughter's cuspids/canines have been horrible. They've been hovering at the surface for months. You can literally see the teeth under the gum, but they are taking forever to cut through. The first one finally came through last week and she was a hot mess. Crying and clinging and awful. I hardly remember her molars. I don't think they bothered her at all.

This has been us for weeks now. I see two molars that have broke, but more just waiting to break the gums. Took his temp last week, 102.5 rectal. I took him to the pedi. He also had an ear infection. They said it's common during the molar teething. First ear infection ever. Well, since treating that, his misery with teething seems to be subsiding. I can't wait for all his baby teeth to be in. He's always had a rough time while teething. Poor little man. Good luck to the rest of you mamas with rough teethers.

  • my son was a complete crab apple for a month straight...at first I had no idea what was going on and then he starting drooling, biting at DC and home, low fevers, extreme moodiness, not eating and not sleeping.  Then one day when he was tipping back on my lap I saw all four coming through.  And sure enough, when those were in...no bad moods, better sleep, no fevers, no biting.

  • We got pretty lucky. DD has gotten two molars in the last few weeks but they haven't woken her up in the middle of the night or anything! (She sleeps like a rock!) But she has been crabby.
