New house vent...

So we've been in our house like a week and they turned off our water!! Apparently the home owner had a scheduled turn off date for today, but the real estate agent didn't tell us. Once we got our internet connected (Thursday), we called to find out where we needed to go and what to do to change over the utilities to our name. The electric company wanted a $575.00 deposit! So we had to call our electric company back in VA to send us a letter showing we were never late on a payment and blah blah blah. The electric company here said that would suffice and we wouldn't have to pay the deposit. So that letter came in the mail today and DH has gone to take care of that. The water company needed a copy of our lease so we called the agent to tell him we needed a signed copy and he's been telling us for days that he would get it to us. So we've been waiting on him thinking we had some time as our lease said we had 30 days to get all bills changed to our name. We were rudely mistaken when this afternoon all the water just shut off! Now the water company is telling us we can't have any water until tomorrow and that you have to submit everything by noon in order to have same day service for your water to be turned on. So there goes my workout for today as I won't be able to shower...I'm so pissed. Vent over.

    Wow.  Super annoying!  So many hoops you have to jump through-- ugh!  Hope they really turn the water back on tomrrow!

    Weird, sounds like someone really dropped the ball there.  When we were going through the process, our realtor and title agent both made it a point to tell us to get the utilities switched to our name ASAP and reminded us again at signing, specifically to avoid things being shut off and to pay setup fees (though we did have to pay a small-ish one for the gas).

    The realtor for this house has really drug his feet on everything and the homeowner wants to drop him. Then the realtor tried to give DH some crap saying we needed it done last week, but then our lease stated we have 30 days not to mention the realtor hasn't given us a signed copy of the lease which we need to have the water switched over!
