I have ALWAYS worked. I graduated and went to work full time with my big girl pants on and never looked back. I went back to work after having my DD bc I'm the insurance carrier. I had to switch departments June 3 to stay full time bc my position went part time. There is a huge promotion opportunity coming up after 3 years of working for this company. I've put in my time and I am finally getting recognized for all my hard work. Here's the kick...DH is starting a new job Jul 29 after his 90 "trial period" they already told him what promotion they want to give him. They offer benefits so I wouldn't have to be the carrier anymore. What I want to do is stay at home with DD, but I feel like if I give up this career opportunity when I do go back to work I would have to start all over again from the very bottom. I want to stay with my DD, but I don't want to set myself up for failure in the future.
Re: Becoming a SAHM
Could you work part time in your industry?
This is a very personal decision. A lot of people love being SAHMs. I hated it. I can't wait to go back to work after a year of SAHMing.
Can you afford to SAH on just your DH's salary? I would draw up a budget using your DH's current salary and see if you can afford it.
Unable to even.

You don't understand the appeal of Benedict Cumberbatch / think he's fug / don't know who he is? WATCH SHERLOCK. Until you do, your negative opinion of him will not be taken seriously.
I am having this dilemma. I need to take some time off, for many reasons. My only reason for staying at this point is because I am scared that if I need to go back to work for XYZ reason, I know for a fact I can't come back to my current job (nepotism; DH and I met at work), and where would I go?
As for your situation, I am not sure I would quit while YH is so new at his job. Something could happen and last one hired is the first one fired and all. Its a tough decision, one I am struggling with too.
I think it comes down to making a list of pros and cons to your leaving the workforce, and comparing the two. Whichever side has the more compelling argument wins.

Yeah, if I SAHM'd, DDs would definitely be in school for at least half of the day. Or more.
