Favorite baby food prep tools?

Mamas, what are you favorite tools for pur?eing food for your LO? I've just been mashing stuff with a fork so far, but would like to get a smoother pur?e. We have a full-size Cuisinart, but it's total overkill for small baby portions! Thoughts on something like a Baby Bullet vs just a manual food mill?

  • I use my full-sized Cuisinart.  I tend to make a lot and freeze it in ice cube trays.  This way I only send a small amount of time making food and it lasts for a month.  I just pop out a few cubes for each meal.  Right now I have bags of sweet potato, mixed green veggies (broccoli, spinach, cauliflower, peas and beans), apple sauce, plums, mango and strawberries.  I just label and date each bag.

this is me also. Love my big food processor!

  • I use an immersion blender. I think it won't be long before we aren't doing purees at all, so I just need the simplest thing for another month or so. I wouldn't bother buying anything else unless you plan to use purees for a long time.
  • I received the baby bullet as a gift, but I really have liked it! It is smaller and has less parts than my cuisinart food processor, so it's really easy to clean up, and doesn't use much storage space. I made two ice cube trays worth of bananas and peas yesterday in literally less than 5 minutes. I would recommend the baby bullet if you want to buy something specifically for baby food prep.
  • I also received the baby bullet as a gift, and I adore it! I love it, it has a great recipe book that comes with it, the storage cups are great, and it is so easy to use and clean. I actually just purchased one for my friend who is due in September.

  • The immersion blender works really well right now. I bought a cheapy 15 one.

  • Thanks, everyone! We actually already have an immersion blender, and for some reason I hadn't thought to use it for this. Perfect!

  • This is so sad, I keep seeing people talk about how much they love their immersion blender, so I Googled it to see what it was, I just realized that I have one. Haha! You can tell how much I've used it, I never even knew what it was called. I think I need to spend a little more time in the kitchen. :-)

I use my Cuisinart immersion blender and it has been great. If you freeze I would just make bigger batches in your full size food processor. The only reason I don't use mine is because the immersion blender is less clean up!

this! Immersion blender is way easier to clean.
