Breaking the news. Newly pregnant

My husband and I are newly pregnant. We are so excited and are looking for creative and fun ways to announce the pregnancy to our families. I'm making a batch of cupcakes with pink and blue icing and baby cupcake toppers to announce to my coworkers. But we wanted to do something similar but different for our families. Any suggestions?

  • Out of curiosity, when will you be sharing the yummy cupcakes with your co-workers?

We told our parents after we saw a heartbeat at 6w1d.  I put a picture of the ultrasound in a frame with a special poem about grandparents.  We slowly began telling other family members and close friends at 14 weeks, though we still are not completely "public", even at 18 weeks.

I have seen a bunch of ideas on pinterest. I would start there.

  • We have our first ultrasound at about 8 weeks. I want to share my yummy cupcakes sometime after that.

is bringing cupcakes or food to your work normal to announce a pregnancy? I have never seen that. To be honest, that would be kinda weird at my work. I announced DD to my mim by giving her a baby book.

    This.

That's a little weird, and if someone at my work brought in cupcakes to announce that they were pregnant I honestly wouldn't care. I know your excited but your co-workers might not share your enthusiasm. I would skip the cupcakes

  • We do food all the time at work. We bake a lot and I was only gonna do cupcakes with baby blue and pink icing. Nothing extravagant. But I was looking for advice on telling my mom not on what everyone thought about my cupcakes. But that's ok. Thanks anyways.
  • We put a 'baby on board' sign that goes in a car, in a gift bag and had my parents open it together. I didn't say a word and just sat back and watched their faces go from confusion to overjoyed.
