No sleep for mom

My son has been rolling from back to tummy for a while now but only during play time, never in his sleep. Well, that changed last night. This wouldn't be a problem if he would roll himself back or turn his face out. But nope to both those things. The first time he did it, he cried which woke me up and I turned him over. The second time, he didn't cry but made just enough noise to set the sound off on the monitor to wake me. Yup, I pretty much had a heart attack when I looked at the screen and saw him face down and not moving. We do lots of tummy time but it's very short lived each time because he hates it so much and has a meltdown. I don't know what to do. Guess I won't be sleeping very well for a little while. It was nice while it lasted. Ugh!

Re: No sleep for mom

  • Have you considered using an Angel Care monitor? It will set off an alarm (and trust me, you can hear it throughout the house) if it detects no movement. For awhile, the only way DS would sleep was on his side, so we got one of these to give me some peace of mind. We try to test it out every day by taking DS off it, and see if it will go off. So far, it hasn't failed. You can adjust the sensitivity settings to make sure it goes off appropriately if necessary.

Good luck, mama! I know how scary it can be to see baby face down.

  • The monitor we have actually comes with a movement sensor pad. We are going to put it in tonight to see how it works. It still scares me though. Any ideas on how I can get him to even try to roll back over?? He just lays there with his arms out to the sides and screams.
  • That was my night last night. Every.30.minutes! We just moved DS to his crib and I went into panic mode checking on him..even though we have a monitor!
