Blister on nipple?

I'm a mom of a 6 day old newborn and I've developed what looks like a clear blister on one of my nipples. It's not really that painful, but I was hoping someone could help me identify what it is. I don't want it to develop into a bigger problem. I've been making sure she feeds on that breast first at each feeding at least for a few minutes to keep milk moving through, but I didn't know if there is something else I should be doing to help get rid of it.

Re: Blister on nipple?

  • When I get larger ones, it ends up giving me clogged ducts.  I am usually able to take a clean washcloth and rub it and that gets rid of it. It's painful, but much less painful than clogged ducts!

  • Thank you for the responses. I'll try the wash cloth and see if I can open it up.
