Sunscreen Question

I posted this on my BMB, but thought I'd ask here too.  We are using Aveeno Baby 55 spf sunscreen.  We were outside in the pool for 2 hours yesterday and I applied the sunscreen twice. It works great on DD1 who has very pale skin, but DD2 who has my olive complexion is tanning even with the sunscreen.  Do I need to worry about this?  Is there another sunscreen you would recommend?

Re: Sunscreen Question

  • Its been 95 degrees, so chances are she is going to get some sun, even with the best sunscreen on the market.

Also, if she has an olive complexion, she has more melanin in her skin to begin with, which when hit by even the littlest sun, is going to make her tan.  I wouldn't worry about it personally.  I would just remember to apply every hour or so, especially if is sweating of in the water.

I personally use Banana Boat 50 Spray Sunscreen and I got some color yesterday and today, but I didn't burn which is good since I am a redhead and have fair skin.

  • We use SPF 100 and both ds and I are tan. It's embarrassing.

If she's olive toned, she'll tan. Keep covering her up. Ds is still in long sleeves rash guards to try to help shield the rays.
