Contours Stroller Question

We are going to get the Contours Optima Aluminum Tandem Stroller based on the rave reviews on this board, and because it can go from infant to kids. Our friends have one and LOVE it.

I've seen a lot of reviews criticizing that the infant car seat doesn't "click in" to the metal frame and instead needs to be strapped in. Is there a car seat that does? If so, I want to add two of those to my registry!

Thanks in advance!!

Re: Contours Stroller Question

  • We have an older version we got at a consignment store but had to buy another car seat adapter for it.  We have both a Baby Trend infant seat from our first DS and got a Graco snugride given to us this time.  Neither car seat snaps in.  They both sit in the adapter like a cradle and you secure with a strap overtop.  I don't mind this at all, they seem quite secure.  I also like that we won't need another stroller.  While the stroller itself is kind of heavy to lift, it is super easy to push around!

  • so it seems really secure and its easy to do if you are on your own with the two nuggets?

ETA - I don't mind the weight, first off, seems inevitable, second, we will likely be using it 50% of the time right out our front door. Just want sturdy and smooth!  And transitional from infant to kid!

  • Well, it does not transition to kid, but this is the stroller we are going to use until the babies are big enough to go directly into the Bob.

It is one of the only one's I could find that the carseat actually "snapped into".  the configuration sort of turned me off at first (how each seat faces outward), but the reviews were great and it makes sense to have the seats that way so you have better access to the babies.

It is plenty secure, especially if it's mainly for walks and/or shopping. The strap that goes over-top fastens as tight as you want, but even without that seems pretty secure.  Obviously this is not the stroller for going on trails and runs. It is very easy to do on your own, it's basically a bigger version of the double snap & go.  Which is the only other alternative but doesn't transition to bigger kids.  The stroller itself is very sturdy and easy to manuever!

GREAT! Thanks! I am definitely looking for ONE investment here, so I think its our best bet from infants to kids. Thanks so much for the input. I guess I will have a thread up soon on "recommend your car seats" ha ha.

  • I have the contours stroller. With two car seat adapters. I have a graco snugride and snugride 35. Both lock on , but its not a tight lock like into a base. It's a loose lock, but locked none the less.. The strap is for extra security. I love the stroller. It fits nicely in my trunk and I can use it with the twins by myself. It only comes with one adapter, you have to order a second one.i also find it not to be that heavy.
